An invitation to the Colchester Civic Society AGM

An invitation to the Colchester Civic Society AGM

This will be on Tuesday 9 June 2026   at 19.00 prompt, in the Cloisters Restaurant, Greyfriars.

The meeting itself will be followed by a break for coffee before a talk is given by Vinnie Geaves, the Manager of Our Colchester, Colchester’s Business Improvement District Team. The BID are behind a lot of ‘happenings’ in the City including of course, the spectacular Christmas Lights switch-on, the Easter Egg Trail and the crazy, high octane, Soap Box Rally (hopefully back in 2027), all of which bring crowds into the City centre. But the BID team also do all they can to promote our City businesses both large and small; for example, they recently produced the Colchester Chronicles – a mini series focusing on the people behind six independent businesses. They support the evening and night-time economies too, doing everything they can to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both staff and customers, working closely with Colchester Pubwatch, which won the National Pubwatch of the Year Award this year. Their work is very diverse. I think you will find Vinnie’s talk eye-opening. Cost is free but donations are welcome.
