The Great British Spring Clean

The Great British Spring Clean

The Great British Spring Clean is a national event run by Keep Britain Tidy. It has a simple aim: to bring people across the country together to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and beaches. The Colchester Society registers and takes part annually in a bid to keep our own town free of unwanted litter.   During the 2021 event, eleven members collected 45 sacks of waste over 36 hours of litter picking. As well as the sacks we added a discarded Christmas tree, a broken bike, an abandoned road sign, several burned planks of timber and 110 single used face masks to our haul. All was collected from an agreed central location by CBC operatives.

Please check the Keep Britain Tidy website for details of next year’s national event and how to take part.
